Being a parent, you always want to give the best for your child and ensure they don’t get into trouble. In today’s developed society, many things can become a great concern for parents and one of the latest issues that can be noticed among the youth is the use of vaping. E-cigarettes and vape pens have become popular in society and so many parents should be in a position to know the signs to look for in case their child is involved.
Following are the top warning signs your child might be vaping
Presence of Vaping Devices

So, if your child owns vape pens, e-cigarette devices, or pods, this is the sign–or perhaps you are a retailer or vaper and these are your products.
Discarded Packaging

Search for e-liquid bottles, if the packaging or cartridges are in the bins or a trash bin.
Empty Juice Bottles

The liquids used in vaping are mostly packed in small bottles to be easily concealed or disposed of at any random place.
Unexplained Sweet or Fruity Odors

E-cigarettes, come with a liquid that produces different aromas like fruits, peppermint, or sweets.
The first alert that may indicate that your child uses vaporizing devices is the emergence of strange smells on their clothes, their breath, or in the rooms they use. Electronic cigarette appliances have their unique fragrances and if you notice your child with a sweet or fruit scent, then it is probable that they use e-cigarettes. In the same way, if the smell of the flavored e-liquids is strong and you can detect it in their things, then you should confront them about the matter in an honest and permissive manner.
Increased Thirst
The chemicals in the vapor include one that causes a dry throat or makes one have a throat thirst after vaping.
Nosebleeds
One disadvantage is that through vaping the nasal passage is dried up which leads to constant bleeding of the nose.

If you have found something new in your child’s property for example tiny gadgets, small cartridges, or chargers, it is important to deal with this as gently as possible. Do not hesitate to strike up a conversation to know the reasons for possessing such items, and whether they have been using such items for vaping.
Change in Social Circle
Decreasing the number of friends or, changing the circle of friends may be associated with the involvement of vaping in one’s life.
Another interesting characteristic that makes up the basis for vaping is peer pressure which in other words guides one's decisions. Specifically, if your child has new friends, or your child is secretive about friends, then think about how these friends are affecting your child.
Academic or Behavioral Changes
Lack of good grades in studies, change of emotions as well as the capability of being so angered or frustrated, and awkward behavior can be strongly associated with the use of nicotine or other tobacco products.

Educational Conversations
By the time you get a signal that your child is vaping, it is very important to always take time and explain the shortfalls of vaping and the consequences that come with vaping. Exposing them to information that is likely to harm their body and their psychological health if they indulge in vaping will help to discourage them from vaping. Educating them about the actualities and ensuring that they do not support the use of e-cigs can help make them let go of the idea.
Seek Professional Help
It is highly advised to look for help or treatment if there is any sign that your child is vaping. It may include consulting a doctor or with an authorized counselor from a school who may seem to have a better understanding or insight towards that particular issue. Another way that assistance can be helpful is in gaining real knowledge from support groups or therapists about the complex topic of adolescent vaping.

Being keen on the risks of vaping, practicing effective communication with the child, and making them feel comfortable, can act as a guide to help the child avoid the risk of vaping.
